Any way to see if I have been airtagged? Currently running Linuxmint 21.3 Cinnamon.

You may be able to use a bluetooth scanner to look for an unknown device but it probably will not be identified as an airtag. Since airtags do not constantly transmit a signal it is sort of hit and miss. It may be easier to use a smartphone.

Use rally their would be an incredibly rare thing as I've always thought of the air tag protocol as an apple only protocol.

No one should have to buy an expensive Apple Product to see if they are being tagged.

An airtag is not a GPS device. There is an android app to help find lost airtags but only an apple device can setup the tag. It would be difficult trying to find a small gps device on a car without experience equipment.

If I'm not mistaken, the way Air Tags work is when an iOS device with Bluetooth detects a tag, it updates the last location (I think to the cloud) where that tag was seen. If the tag ends up somewhere that no one with an iOS device goes, that tag is essentially lost.

I have the detection app on my Android phone. If the app detects a tag, you have to wait 10 minutes before you can make the tag sound to reveal it's location.
