When saving a URL/Image/text from every browser, the directories are NOT alphabetical!
{Note: I had a stroke in 2011, and am brain-damaged}
I checked on every browser I use {Brave, Opera, Firefox, Chromium, and Vivaldi} and when I save content on my account, the list is no longer alphabetical I have checked on my Dolphin configuration and it is still set on "alphabetical-case insensitive" and the listing is somewhat chaotic for directories/sub-directories. My home directory has 38 folders in it, and listed as AAA, AOM, audio, bin, etc BUT when I do a save from a browser, they are listed as ND DOT, snap, substack, history, etc So what the {heck} is going on????? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you for reading this, and have yourself a great day! |
Browsers use GTK FileChooser which is unaffected by Dolphin settings. You should either change sorting options directly in browser's file open dialogues probably by clicking on a column header or something - never done it myself, or configure GTK to use native QT file dialogues by setting GTK_USE_PORTAL=1 in e.g. /etc/environment like it is done on my system (reboot required) or in shortcuts you use to start browsers.

OK, I am watching a movie right now {Fist Full of Dollars} But when I get done watching it, I will take your advice.
Thank you, and have yourself a wonderful day! |
OK, I am "/testing/fighting" with it right now. I will try to tell ya'all about it..... if I remember.
{I lived in Tennessee for three years, which gives me the super-power to say ya'all without being embarrassed} Thank you all, and have yourself a fantastic day! |
I have been struggling with this for a few days.
I added some GTK things and I still couldn't to work properly, as GTK and KDE file choosers do not work well together for me. Yeah, it's probably my doing/fault, but I purged the GTK packages I had added and everything is back to the way it was before I started messing with GTK things. Does anyone else have a different solution? I could do some "apt-pinning" but as I stopped doing that since I had {finally} stuck with just the stable version, so I don't screw myself yet again. QUESTION: I do backups every day, could one of these backups cause the problem I am having? Thank you for reading this, and have yourself a wonderful day! |
Every browser I use {Brave-browser, Opera, Vivaldi, Firefox, and Chromium} all except Firefox, the directories are non-alphabetical. But with Firefox I get a non-desktop display that is a pain in the {butt} to deal with, its just a list, now wile they directories are alphabetical, my preferred browser is Brave-browser(nightly), because it seems to treat me better than most other browsers.
{PS: I really dislike using GTKGnome-style packages it seems/looks weird to me, and Gnome sort of has the look and feel of a Smartphone} {PPS: Yeah, I have a Smartphone, but it seems to hate me, and I hate it right back} |
An update:
The problem seems to be with KDE, since another desktop manager seems to work normally... well, I've only tried on XFCE, but it seems to work normally. I will have to check with other desktop managers. Yet again, have yourself an awesome day! |
OK, I think I know what the problem MIGHT be.
As I have said before, my directories are NOT alphabetized. My primary browser is Brave-Browser-Nightly build, because all of a sudden the directories are, yet again, alphabetized. Thus the nightly build and because I use KDE for my Desktop, that MIGHT be the problem. Wish me luck! I will call this as SOLVED, and it might stay correct! Have yourself a glorious day! |
