I've searched all over but haven't been able to figure out where this calendar comes from.

That is most likely going to be SuperKaramba, www.freshmeat.net and search for Karamba and SuperKaramba.

Actually it looks more like gDesklets, which is the gnome equivalent. But I expect there is one in superkaramba too

I looked at gDesklets, but didn't see any that displayed a calendar like that. I only glanced at karambe because I'm running Gnome.

well its from the exact same site, but it seems to be different, so it could be gDeskCal ?

actually i was just looking at the skins page, and that skin in the link you gave is in the download list as you will see the picture on the skins page....so it is confirmed :D
