my nvidia gforce 4 drivers
Helo,
I have linux slackware 9.0 with the standard bare.i kernel. Now I want to install my graphic and sound drivers, but when I install the drivers from the nvidia site, the installprogram says, that I don't have the right kernel, i have a via p4 mainbord, and a geforce 4 mx440 graphic card. I also could use some information about a flash plugin for my konqueror browser (because I don't find one) and information about other drivers (like my soundcard, my cd-rom and cd-rewriter, my floppy station, and so on) Lieven aka skull98 |
you should have the source for your kernel installed
and let the NVIDIA script build a kernel. I am doing that with Mandrake 10.0 and a 2.6.3 kernel without experiencing any problems - the package I am using is NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run. |
just to add to my previous post:
>> and let the NVIDIA script build a kernel. let it build a kernel module (sorry) - then in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 change Driver "nv" to Driver "nvidia" not sure what this looks like in Slackware (I last used Slackware about 10 years ago). Flashplayer plugin is available form the macromedia website |
have u installed the kernel sources ?
|
yes, I have installed the kernel sources. specifically in the case of Mandrake 10.0
and the kernel I am using: kernel-tmb-i686-up-4GB-2.6.3-4.tmb.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm I also have the kernel source package kernel-tmb-source-2.6.3-4.tmb.1mdk.i586.rpm (they are actually from the contrib section of Mandrake, i.e. non-standard kernels). The kernel source should match the kernel that you are running when you run the NVIDIA install script - you should also run this install script while you are in runlevel 3 (i.e. NOT running X). |
