LVM Question

Is everyone familiar with an HP MediaVault servers? If you don't know what they are, they are home NAS servers running a version of Linux. These servers were put out by HP a couple of years ago. They fall into the Mediasmart product line of NAS servers.

I have a question about this problem I have with the MV2 (MediaVault) server. The MV2 has an EXT3 partition structure which rides on top of LVM. I guess the reason being is the MV2 can take advantage of RAID ability. The MV2 has pre-configured folders (Backup, Documents, Music, Video) which is installed automatically during the Factory reset of the MV2.

I lost all of my documents and music on the MV2. I tried using EXT2FSD to recover my files. Nothing! I tried CnW Recovery software which is recommended by the MediaVault community. Nothing! I was using an external USB drive adapter.

My question is this, since the MV2 drive is configured with EXT3 partitions, can Suse Linux 12.2 read and write to this drive? Would I be able to recover anything using Suse Linux?

SuSE 12.2 has the capability to mount an LVM partition. Here is some good information on the MV2 that includes data recovery. ext2fsd can not mount a LVM and I am unfamiliar with CnW recovery.
