Latest Challenging Project on Operating System's?

Hello people, am doing my graduation project on Operating Systems specifically on Linux Kernel where i would be learning how to compile and run the Linux Kernel. The reason for me asking this thread is am in a full chaos as to what kind of module that i can develop so that i can even contribute it to the Open Source community. My project guide suggested me like Kernel Synchronization or something on Scheduling, it would be very helpful if you think you can suggest me with some nice topics and which is also pretty challenging(i.e implementing across Parallel and Distributed Systems).

Well, you've already received two ideas from your project guide....how many more would you like? And if you're able to code such things, taking those concepts towards a parallel system would be a good thought.

Why don't you think about some features that YOU would like to see, and implement those?

Sir, i really appreciate your suggestion the reason for me asking was to get some more related concepts and later deciding on the one that is better as most of them are already implemented.
