How to install Linux for Wein2K

I am new user. Please tell me which linux is best for wein2K and how we start to install linux.

According to, http://www.wien2k.at/hard+soft/ pretty much any. If you really don't have a preference I suggest using whatever your colleagues use. Failing that, you should tell us what else you plan on using this machine for.

Go to the website of the distribution you are interested in an read the installation instructions.

PS. You should not assume that we have any knowledge of niche/obscure software. As such it is best to provide links and descriptions of such things when posting.

I'd be more concerned about the machine than the OS. I doubt you'll have too much trouble getting it to run on any linux distro with a little effort but since Wein2k is closed source, for an easy install you probably want to stick with whatever platform they package their binaries for.
".deb" and ".rpm" are the most common. So I'm thinking Redhat and it's derivatives or Debian and it's derivates.

Next question. This is a fairly expensive program, even for an academic license. If you were a student I assume you would be using a free DFT package. eg http://exciting-code.org/
Since you are probably buying this for an institution it may look better on the books to buy something that will be supported such as an RHE server. Regardless you are going to want a powerful setup for DFT calculations.

Most of these deals have some post where they say what it has been tested on. See if you can find that. I find that some of this odd use type app you would find it easier to do exactly at the writer used.

I might be tempted to run it under OpenIndiana or one of the BSD's.
