It seems no one is home at ROBOLINUX, I could not get in touch with tech support at all, with a donation or otherwise. I would really like to use this system if at all possible.

First, did you read their tech-support hours??

So unless you want to wait, you can either figure this out on your own, or tell us what the issue(s) are, and what you're trying to accomplish, and we can try to help. Not sure what you want us to tell you about a distros website and tech-support policies.

rusty377 07-20-2018 12:58 PM

I did read tech support hours and made attempts to contact them. It is odd hours I will admit. But it seems like no one is home. I would like to use this system, but cannot figure out how to install VM or windows 10 disk. What's wrong with newbies asking questions? I thought this site would be tolerant of us newbies and I could safely ask a question

rusty377 07-20-2018 01:00 PM

I basically want to contact tech support.

jefro 07-20-2018 01:20 PM

I don't think they have tech support exactly.

It seems to be a version of Debian with Virtualbox installed.

It is, but there are questions that we aren't going to be able to answer. Such as why they won't answer you. How can you expect us to know that?

And we understand that. The best (and only) answers we can give you about their tech support are what you already know
  • Wait
  • Try again
Can't tell you much past that, since we don't have anything to do with their website, tech-support personnel, or how many people there may be in front of you in the tech-support queue.

Again, what is your goal? What are you trying to accomplish, and why did you choose this distro? Pretty much ANY version of Linux can run VirtualBox, and you can easily install Windows (or Mac OS, for that matter) within it, with minimal effort, for free. Here's a guide on how to install virtualbox on Linux Mint (probably the easiest distro for new users), and how to install Windows 10 after you get VB installed. Pretty simple.

I use vmware all of the time for various reasons - on linux and windows. This version seems to imply you can run side-by-side displays-which I would like to experiment with. I just wanted to hear from anyone if they use it or not-pros and cons....

AwesomeMachine 07-20-2018 06:08 PM

Do you have any specific questions about installation or operation? Linux distros don't typically offer one-on-one tech support. Robolinux claims to but apparently doesn't. So, if you have some specific question regarding installation or operation, ask it.

Do you mean with a host on one, and guest on the other? If so, I do that with Virtual Box at work with Windows 7 and openSUSE.

Maybe everyone answering the OP should look at; How to Answer a Linux Question <- 'Simon Bridge's excellent composition to aid us in good informational exchanges'

Most of you always answer with the; How to Ask Questions the Smart Way or some form of it.

We as respondents must be a little more gentler with our response(s) to new users. We as members have agreed to abide by the LQ Rules so please pay attention to those rules.

If you've used vmware then you should know about virtualbox.

Virtualbox is an emulator. It emulates a physical computer in software.

Almost everyone on this site has used an emulator.

You can easily download Debian and install Virtualbox.

The client OS however is up to you.

Sooo, robolinux is debian with virtualbox.

rusty377,

See post #2:
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...lp-4175597462/

Also:
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...se-4175557585/

As others have advised:

1. Just use Debian, or any other Linux distro of your choice.

2. Install VirtualBox in above distro.

3. Use one of the recommended guides listed above to install Windows inside VirtualBox.
