Postfix SMTP Auth Failure
 

I've followed the SMTP Auth HOWTO's for Postfix. I had already done a similar setup for Sendmail (from which I have just swtiched), and that setup was successful. I do remember having alot of toying around to do to get things to work.

First of all, there was a Sendmail command/script to show the currect config/setup. Is there such a thign for Postfix?

Further, what's the command for adding a user to SASL (just incase I got that wrong - unlikely)

But most of all, what's the best method for tracking down exactly where the failure is? All I know is that the authentication is available, but never successful. I have tried it from Netscape's Messenger.

I can't answer your question directly, as I have not had that probelm. But a great resource site is www.securitysage.com. They offer free advice and configure files for Postscript.

Just remember to only change one setting at a time. Also, are you confusing PostFix with IMAP? With netscape, if it fails when trying to 'read' mail, then it is IMAP, but if it fails when sending mail, then it is PostFix.
