Linux Network Controller Question
 

Hello,

I have acquired a few enterprise wireless Access Points to conduct security research with. However, the APs all seem to need a network controller to interoperate with. I have been doing research of my own and I found a couple of projects that might work like the CoovaChilli project but the more I look into it I have my doubts. One example AP I am talking about is the Cisco Aironet 3702i Controller-based AP.

So my question is does anyone know of any linux based wireless controllers that can control enterprise wireless Access Points or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Linux should have nothing to do with an AP. They should all be tcp/ip based. Maybe a few other advanced features but all can be configured and used by almost any modern OS.

It would help if you posted more detailed info on what you have and what you want to do with it. I mean attach it to a lan or access it wirelessly or what.

No actual experience with controller based APs and no clue if or how well open-capwap works.

Thanks guys for your input. One of my Access Points does have a virtual controller inside of it so I got the Aruba AP up. michaelk, I still have the cisco Aironet which I know requires a controller so I will investigate open-capwap and see if I can get something running.
