i personally like cyanogenmod better than android but most of my most used apps are actually widgets that stay on on my home screens (even though i rarely click on them):
ap news
espn score center
accu weather
go calendar
image gallery photo frame

also i like lbe security (runs like a daemon in the background) to disallow the crazy permissions of most apps (why does mixzing music player need access to my location ?).

here are some of my other favorites (if people dont mind editing what application the programs listed above cover):
Quote:

clockworkmod (bootloader allows to install different roms)
air calc (floatable widget tip calculator)
contact vibrate (set different vibrate rhythms for each contact)
connectbot (bash terminal)
file expert (rooted file navigation tree)
andftp (scp client)
go launcher (homescreen and menu dashboard)
- allows for double-tap gestures to launch an app
graffiti (change keyboard to palm pilot grafitti input)
opera (web browser i use for flash streams)
sshdroid (ssh server)
xbmc (dlna enabled media player)
xbmc remote (allows to control another xbmc machine via wifi)
androidlost.com (remote maintenance and tracking of devices)
animgif (allows for homescreen background picture to be an animated gif)
airdroid (use fone functions via web browser)
unnamed-rom
- allows for rooted access to wifi hotspot
... on my galaxy s-2.

Browser (Was Opera, currently Firefox)
K-9 Mail
Move! Bike Computer
FBReader
Docs To Go (for my shopping lists)

A close runner-up would be ColorNote

The phone is an HTC One.

Dell Venue 8 tablet with Android 4.4.2
  • Lyne -- good game!
  • FBreader -- reading while traveling
  • Chrome -- web, email, news

Don't use it for much else, but I'm going to look up some of the suggestions here.

I have a Nexus 5 and the most used apps on it are:

01. Facebook
02. Gmail
03. Evernote
04. CM Browser
05. A game (I love hidden-object games - I do often play some, but right now I'm hooked to Clash of Clans :) )

I've got a Galaxy Note 10.1, which I primarily use for reading. But I'm kind of confused here about which ebook reader is THE best. I've tried quite a few ones, but couldn't yet settle on one.
