Cannot access Android DCIM/Camera from RHEL 8.5

# uname -a
Linux sname 4.18.0-348.12.2.el8_5.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Jan 17 07:06:06 EST 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

RHEL 8.5
MATE 1.26.0
CAJA 1.22.3

When I was using Devuan, transferring files from my Android Samsung Galaxy s5 phone to to my linux box was easy: just go to DCIM/Camera, and copy the files over. Now that I am using RHEL 8.5, it seems impossible.

Using Caja file manager, I go to: phone > Card > DCIM > Camera, and it hangs badly. I cannot even exit the file manager.

I have made sure the phone is set to transfer, not charge. I have disconnected, and reconnected.

So it works, and only hangs when you enter the Camera folder?
Could be caja is trying to generate thumbnails or read metadata from the files etc. You might try to disable some features in caja.
Or you could try accessing the folder from the command line?
