Another distribution has joined LinuxQuestions.org. Please welcome Linux Mint. I'd like to thank Husse for working to get the forum setup.

YES!

Although I'm an avid Red Hat user (includes Fedora/CentOS/RHEL); I exclusively use Linux Mint on my desktop at home!

I always recommend Mint to anyone asking for a user friendly easy to use distro...

Since I've installed in on my Desktop (and one of my laptops) I've haven't had the need to do anything except update it...

Really great to see Linux Mint over here! It's a super-good distro,....!

jinnstar 03-18-2009 06:51 PM

I started using Mint with the purchase of my new laptop last month. It's been tip-top ever since the first install. I've also had to only do minor maintenance.

great to see!

It's great to see Mint is finally here on LQ. IMO the greatest out-of-the-box distro there is!

Hi Husse,

I strayed from both Ubuntu and Linux Mint and have been running openSuSE for the last 4 -5 months. I'm waiting for your next version to come out.

How are things in Sweden? It is a lot warmer here.

Nice to see you @ LQ.

Hi Adler
Things are fine thank you - spring is coming - nice sunny day today
And welcome back to Mint - I think Gloria (Mint 6) can be really great

I'm not a mint fan, but I'm a Mint fan!

I've been trying to like Fedora 10 for several months now, but things keep winding up broken, and KDE 4.2, while much better than 4.0 and 4.1, is still far from rock solid. I decided to give GNOME another try, using Mint. I am very glad I did! Things just seem to work. While I'm not yet entirely comfortable in the GNOME environment, I'm getting there. And guess what... I'm actually getting some work done instead of just monkeying around with trying to fix things first. As a former boss used to say... "It's nice when you can actually work WITH the tools instead of just working ON the tools!"

QFE just because it's so true.

Can Linux Mint be installed as a option over ubuntu so I can try it without the complete inmstallation?

alan_ri 03-19-2009 07:36 AM

awcrooke, please start a new thread about your problem, this is a "Welcome to the Linux Mint Forum" thread. Thanks!

Maligree 03-19-2009 07:38 AM

Have you heard of VirtualBox? Give it a try, you'll be able to test any OS you like without touching your current setup.
