Tried to install Onedrive, messed up my entire desktop manager
1 Attachment(s)
I attempted to install Onedrive using the software package manager, thinking it would update to a newer version - onedrive - 2.4.13-1build1, and might even have a desktop GUI for it.
I was previously using a version from the terminal that I synched every now and then - onedrive v2.4.0-25-g7f267a5. When I tried to synch using the terminal, it displayed the following: $ onedrive --synchronize Initializing the Synchronization Engine ... Syncing changes from OneDrive ... And then nothing happened. Several minutes. Angry, I went back to Synaptic, and completely removed both libcmis-0.5-5v5 0.5.2-3build1 and onedrive 2.4.13-1build1. Why? Because both came up as installed when I searched for onedrive in Synaptic. Why? Because I'm stupid. I rebooted, and, upon logging back in, my desktop looked like the attached. Previously, my desktop resembled a typical MS windows screen with the status bar at the bottom, hitting the windows key brought up the applications menu, and everything at the top of the screen now was previously at the bottom. I am using Xfce and xfwm4 - 4.18.0-1~bpo22.04. Short of somehow reloading a system backup that I do not know if I have, could someone please offer some advice or help as to how I could get my desktop to back to my normal? Please, oh, please. Thank you in advance. System specs: Linux matthew-ThinkPad-T430 6.5.0-14-generic #14~22.04.1-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Mon Nov 20 18:15:30 UTC 2 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Code:

I have a timeshift-gtk backup from yesterday, before I started messing with things that I really shouldn't have.
Would just restoring from the backup using timeshift-gtk be the easiest way to solve the problem of getting my desktop back to the way it looked and the way it behaved? ========== Update - Ran the timeshift-gtk backup and, no, it did not change the desktop settings at all. I hate everything. |
Okay, the stupid has ended...
I looked up "How to reset xfce and or xfwm4 settings" and got the following website: https://learningnotebook.tech.blog/2...ktop-settings/ Quote:
Sorry for the existential crisis when I should have used my friend google and simply read the manual. |
:p
Some-one will find the detail handy and thank you for the post(s). |
