Recover Deleted File on USB HDD

Guys, if I delete a file on my USB HDD, is there any way to recover it?

Praying now...

The answer is "maybe", since you don't give us ANY details at all. Like the kind of USB storage (NVME? SSD? Standard flash?) what kind of filesystem is on it, what you did AFTER you deleted the file, or even version of Mint. We can't guess.

Best chances are to remove the drive immediately after unmounting it.

Testdisk, photorec.

In many cases you don't really delete the file actually you just delete reference point to it. The space becomes available unless you have some sort of trash can or recycle bin.

To elaborate if you deleted the file from the file browser it may be in the trash. If you deleted the file from a terminal window you need to use the mentioned recovery tools.

FenderGuy,

As per michaelk's reply.

I just deleted a file from my USB drive and then closed the drive.

I reopened the drive and there in the Trash file was the original file.

Unless you also clicked on "Empty Trash" when you closed the USB drive, then the original file(s) should still be intact in the Trash folder.

DIDN'T ACTUALLY SOLVE IT. I DECIDED THAT I'M DUE FOR A JEW LAPTOP.
