How to mount video cd in LinuxMint 9 Fluxbox
but it gets detected in OpenSuse 11.2 with Xfce, what to do i case of Fluxbox?
|
VCD
What do you mean by 'detected' in this context?
|
Sorry, I meant it is not mounted. fdisk -l shows nothing.
|
After inserting the disk:
Code:
anisha@aquarius ~ $ sudo -s |
I may be missing the point of your question here and apologize if I am, but I shall dive in anyway. I am an enthusiastic Fluxbox fan and have used it quite happily with Slackware, Ubuntu, and Debian.
Fluxbox will not display any kind of indication on the desktop that removable or hotplug media has been inserted and auto-mounted. Fluxbox is strictly a window manager. If XFCE shows the mounted media, that tells me that your install can detect the media. If you open a file manager such as nautilus or konqueror, it should show the mounted media. |

Any help? |
fluxbox doesn't have HAL or other desktop service provider integration; you want
it mounted, you mount it. Simple as that. Cheers, Tink |
Oh yes, I didn't try to mount it, I will today and see what happens, thanks.
and if I type only 'mount' on the root terminal it shows everything from '/etc/mtab', so it will show the audio CD too? otherwise how should I know the exact name of the AUdio CD? |
Audio CD's don't have a file-system - they can't be mounted. As for knowing
which CD is in the drive; no idea how to look that up - I usually know what I put in the drive. Cheers, Tink |

Hmmm open the app you want to use to copy? E.g., k3b works rather well. cdparanoia if
commandline is your thing. |
cdparanoia looks promising, I'll try that, thanks again for all the help.

What to do now? See the below output for the Video CD.
