Flicking through them I don't think I'd class just about any of them as "interesting". Just very bland.

H_TeXMeX_H 06-01-2011 07:44 AM

I get them from:
http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/downloads/date/any/
Probably the best place for landscapes.

IMO, all the posts in this section of the forum should (when possible) list and/or link to-

The desktop background pic.
DE/WM.
DE/WM theme.
Compositor (if used).
Any other extras (conky configs, etc).

BTW, here is my current desktop background-

http://www.wallchan.com/sandbox/417/

I'm a sucker for fractals.

Social Wallpapering is another good resource for backgrounds/wallpapers.

I get most of mine from http://www.reddit.com/r/wallpapers and http://boards.4chan.org/wg/ (4chan is probably NSFW).

Thanks.

HD stuff
http://hdw.eweb4.com/

More often than not I do a image search from Startpage or GIS of more or less of what I want.

frankbell 06-20-2013 09:01 PM

There's also http://gnome-look.org/ and http://kde-look.org/, as well as http://www.wallpapers.com/index.aspx

I'm partial to nature scenes and cityscapes. I have a little script that I run on my Fluxbox desktops to rotate the wallpapers; I call it from the .fluxbox/startup file:

Code:

while true; do
        fbsetbg -a -R ~/[path-to]/wallpapers
#        fbsetbg -a -R ~/[path-to]/Christmas
        sleep 15m

The part that is remarked out is the path to my holiday wallpapers.

It was adapted from an FVWN script that I found.

Z038 06-21-2013 12:22 AM

I always have so many open windows on all of my virtual desktops that I never see the wallpaper, so I don't bother changing the KDE default.

MarkG5 07-26-2013 03:49 PM

Cool but I found a few other
http://wholles.com/
http://jumbowallpaper.com/
http://ggwallftw.com/
and

Trihexagonal 09-24-2022 04:38 PM

I make all the wallpapers I use with Gimp and am (slowly) making them available for download on my site:

https://trihexagonal.org/

This is one of them on a Kali Linux desktop:
