Sound doesn't work (HP Pavilion)

Hi folks,

I have a NoteBook HP Pavilion dv4 1225dx running Debian 5.

and my sound doesn't work.

I run the 'alsaconf', no problems, but nothing happen with my sound.

When I run the alsaconf, lists three choices:

hda-intel ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)
hda-intel ATI Technologies Inc RS780 Azalia controller
legacy Probe legacy ISA (non-PnP) chips

I tried all choices, but no one works.

My lspci result.

lspci | grep -i audio
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)
01:05.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc RS780 Azalia controller

Somebody can help ?

Thanks a lot! =)

Have you tried from a terminal as root, the command, alsamixer and check to see if anything showing with a <M> for mute. Press the M key and unmute it, then press esc key to quit. Once you're out of it, type alsactl store to save the setting.

Saptech, thanks, but it isn't that.

I think the sound is configured corretly, but the sound only works with headphones, I don't know why.

My modpobre.d/sound configuration

Code:

alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel index=0

Hi linuxlive, yes I did.

Just download the last version of ALSA packages at http://www.alsa-project.org and compile it.

I think the problem was solved in some version between 1.0.18 and 1.0.20.

Having the same problem with a HP Pavillion dv7 Notebook PC running Slackware 13.0 x86. Updating alsa did not fix the problem on my machine. It will work in the terminal but not for firefox or any other X application as far as I can tell. If there are any settings that would be of use in fixing this problem please let me know.
