I realized that the reason that gparted would not allow me to resize the extended partition is that the Linux OS existed on a logical partition inside that same extended partition. Since the partition was mounted it could not be resized. I, of course, could have booted with a live CD and done it that way but I figured that the most correct way was to reinstall (again) and repartition.
I now have two primaries, one for Windows and one for Linux. I also now have an extended with the rest of the partitions in that. Gparted now resizes the logical partitions fine. I appreciate everyone's help with this. Thanks! |
