booting /Grub/partition
I caused a problem when I tried installing Big Linux OS on the same partition as Zorin 16.
After Installation, which went fine. The computer could not find any Disks to boot. So I run a Boot Repair disk. This found the disks and partitions and I can now boot Zorin but Big Linux does not show up. I compounded the problem by Installing Zorin three times on different disks. These all show on the Grub screen at start up. I would like to delete two of these Zorin installations and if possible get Big Linux to appear in the Grub and boot. I list the output of lsblk -o NAME,FSTYPE,SIZE,MOUNTPOINT As you will see its a bit of a mess. Could anyone give me some direction and instruction on how to correct my mistakes. There is not enough information to give any advice. Postbin the results of boot-repair.

Booting/Grub/Partition
Thank you for your reply. I did not keep the report from the Grub Repair.

Assuming sdb1 is zorin partition, don't know what parition/drive Biglinux is on, if biglinux has a boot partition, and the partitions that the other zorin installs are on.
post the output of Code:
parted -l |
Thank you colorpurple. I have pasted the output, as requested.
On sda is asmall partition 512 mb, ext4 left over from a previous install. sda2 is a Zorin install 465.51GB sda3 Big Linux OS 465.51 This was an automated install and I assume it installed the correct configuration. Looking at it on Gparted there is a yellow triangle with root beside it. So there seems to be a problem. sdb is another Zorin install, that I would like to keep. 223,57 GB sdc is a Back-up disk I use. sdd is not being used but is formatted to sdd1 fat32 512 mb and sdd2 ext4 2.73 GB. So I would like to use Big Linux OS, the Zorin on sdb and of cause the back-up disk on sdc JUST NOTICED IN SD3 where it has a yellow triangle and root beside it; the partition seems to be empty against the Used and Unused, there is nothing recorded. Yet Big Linux went through the Installation without issue and at the end said that I could reboot. Hope this is helpful. stephen@stephen-MS-7B86:~$ parted -l stephen@stephen-MS-7B86:~$ efibootmgr -v BootCurrent: 0000 Timeout: 1 seconds BootOrder: 0000,0007,0008 Boot0000* ubuntu HD(1,GPT,be1ef5e2-7296-4d71-97f2-144793f85819,0x800,0x100000)/File(\EFI\UBUNTU\SHIMX64.EFI) Boot0007 Hard Drive BBS(HD,,0x0)/VenHw(5ce8128b-2cec-40f0-8372-80640e3dc858,0200)..GO..NO..........T.O.S.H.I.B.A. .Q.3.0.0.....................\.,.@.r.d.=.X..........A.................................>..Gd-.;.A..MQ..L.6.4.B.E.2.3.H.G.1.K.U.M. . . . . . . . ........BO..NO..........W.D.C. .W.D.1.0.E.A.R.S.-.2.2.Y.5.B.1...................\.,.@.r.d.=.X..........A.................................>..Gd-.;.A..MQ..L. . . . .W. .-.D.C.W.V.A.M.5.4.1.7.4.2.2........BO..NO..........W.D.C. .W.D.1.0.E.A.R.S.-.0.0.Y.5.B.1...................\.,.@.r.d.=.X..........A.................................>..Gd-.;.A..MQ..L. . . . .W. .-.D.C.W.V.A.P.5.2.4.8.4.0.4........BO..NO..........W.D.C. .W.D.3.0.E.Z.R.X.-.0.0.D.C.0.B.0...................\.,.@.r.d.=.X..........A.................................>..Gd-.;.A..MQ..L. . . . .W. .-.D.M.W.1.C.3.T.7.9.7.9.9.0........BO Boot0008 CD/DVD Drive BBS(CDROM,,0x0)/VenHw(5ce8128b-2cec-40f0-8372-80640e3dc858,0300)..GO..NO..........H.L.-.D.T.-.S.T. .B.D.-.R.E. . .B.H.1.0.L.S.3.0...................\.,.@.r.d.=.X..........A.................................>..Gd-.;.A..MQ..L.9.K.A.B.E.7.4.8.1.3. .9. . . . . . . . ........BO..NO..........H.L.-.D.T.-.S.T. .D.V.D.R.A.M. .G.H.2.2.N.S.5.0...................\.,.@.r.d.=.X..........A.................................>..Gd-.;.A..MQ..L.6.K.A.2.7.1.4.1.3.8. .6. . . . . . . . ........BO |
Justwent back to Gparted and against the yellow triangle is says....Unable to read the contents of this file system!
Because of this some operations may be unavailable. The cause might be a missing software package. The following list of software packages is required for btrfs file system support: btrfs-progs / btrfs-tools. I have no idea what this means. Steve |

If you wish to boot more than one operating system without using the BIOS or the BIOS BBS hotkey to choose what to boot, it's normally necessary to have all installations in the same mode: either UEFI, or Legacy/BIOS. Optionally, other mode operating systems can be manually added to a working Grub menu, via either /etc/grub.d/ or /boot/grub/custom.cfg for the installation with working Grub. |
