SystemGroups dip and netdev

I am a member in those two groups. I am not sure what the dip group is and whether I need it for anything. My internet connection is through a cable modem.
I ask because I want to remove my username from group dip.

Edit. Another question I have is whether I should delete some groups that I will not need or use and if there is any benefit of doing that. floppy and scanner are two examples. /Edit

Dial up IP i.e dial up ppp and wvdial. No benefit from keeping or deleting as far as I know.

I know the link but thanks anyway. It is the one I mostly used to learn about what each group does.

No benefit. I did read that in a couple of posts. I was thinking that a group is maybe a way for someone to get in your system.
