phantom disk problem reading floppy

I have a problem that is similar to the phantom disk problem I experienced with some old DOS machines. I am running RH 7.0 with Gnome as the manager. The computer dual boots with Windows NT 4.0. The RH boots from the floppy, NT from the HDD...both boot just fine. However, when using the file manager in Gnome (going through mnt/floppy) the window keeps showing me the listings of some previous disk that I had in the floppy drive a day ago (even after reboot and even if I login as root or myself). I put new files on the floppy...it still gives the content of that disk of a day ago. Whats worse it even pulls up that image of a day ago. The disk is read properly by a second machine (Win 95) and when I boot the computer up to Windows NT it reads the disks correctly. So...it seem to be in the RH OS/ Gnome manager... but what is it? How do I correct it?
Thank you :-)

I don't use gnome but did you remove the floppy without unmounting it?

Is there an unmount function associated with the file manager window? I know that from the command line you must umount...but I thought that the Gnome file manager would do this for you.

I don't know about gnome but konq dosn't do it, I unmount my floppy by right clicking on the desktop icon.
