Mounting bin/cue files
is it possible to mount .bin (or with a cue sheet) in linux?
normally i've converted them to iso to save the trouble, but now i'm wondering how could i mount those types of cd images? i know that k3b can read the .bin files, so there must be a tool for understanding .bin files.... |
check this out
this should be what your looking for .. |
thx for the site; i'll post back here when i try it out
|
there is also kiso : http://kiso.sourceforge.net/
|
and kiso is exactly the type of program i was looking for! a winiso replacement!
i'll have to try both these things out soon |

well, i tried compiling kiso, but configure gives me an error about not finding my kdelibs
i know i have my kdelibs-3.1.5 package installed (checked it in pkgtool, it is there, even checked the actual directories); i tried giving the extra command --with-extra-lib=/opt/kde/lib/ but that didn't work how can i get kiso to recognize my kdelibs? |
Time to answer my own question (whilst watching Super Bowl....)
alright, the reason for failure was actually that come part of Qt couldn't find plugins during configure; since i had updated kde (alond with kdelibs), some links were removed; thus, by installing the newest Qt from slackware-current, configure worked! but the program installer is a bit buggy; unless you specify some sort of prefix, the program will not correctly install; so when doing configure, make sure to use the --prefix=/usr/local flag finally, i have one question: what is DCOPServer? kiso uses this program and i have a feeling that it is a security risk... |
i am glad that this is what u wanted :)
dcopserver is the program that allows KDE applications to communicate with each other. but the thing is i havent tried kiso yet as i dont require to use it now , but i downloaded it as i loved winiso in windows so i searched for an alternative for it in linux |
Hmmm I don't know if the latest version lost some of it's features, but kiso only supports ISO and NRG. cdemu worked for me, but its annoying having to use a text interface. Maybe I'll make a GTK frontend for it or something. Heh, as if I'll ever get around to that.
