Migrating from RH9 to ES3

Greetings,

I have this RH9 running few services. I would love to migrate the system to my new server ES3.

What is the best(fast, reliable, efficient) way of doing this? Will it cause any problem if I just do a cp and replace some of the *.conf, passwd, shadow files?

Please advice the best way of migrating the system.

cheers,

You probably can just copy the files across, since RH9 and ES3 came from the same codebase.

I would be sure to install an ES system with Update 4 and compare the config files first, though. Or at least download the latest RPMs for the relevent services and look at the config files that they install. There may be differences between the two, and I know that Update 4's caching-nameserver package replaces the BIND config files - there may be other changes since ES was released.

Thanks mate, I will check out the difference between *.conf before copying.

cheers,
