If possible, could anyone give me exact instructions to dual-boot WinXP and Slackware
 

I have a different computer now and when i was to put Linux onto my computer i would use a program that i would get off the internet. Now, i have no access to a computer. Can anyone give intructions on how to dual-boot off of slackware by using fdisk? Any kind of reply would be greatly appreciated.

Most distro's will take care of the dual boot during install with no problem.
If you want to partition first, you can do that.
I don't actually use win at all anymore, but...
Here's what I did last time (once with RH 8 and then with Mandrake 9 and 9.1):
Install XP
-create a partition during install for XP to live on (a C: drive if you will)
-do XP installation

Install Lin
-tell it not to use the partition that XP is on during install
-do Lin installation

Reboot.
You'll get a menu at boot asking to boot to Win or Lin (mine said DOS or Linux-you can edit the actual text of the menu later)
It really was that easy. I recommend using LILO-though I'm sure there are a lot of people who prefer GRUB...

What would you do if you already have windoze on you computer. :P

if u have 2 partitions:

- backup their contents
- divide it into the partitions u need

if you only have one partition:

- u need a partition resizer (like partition magic)
- or re-install windows so u can create more partitions.

ONE TIP: if u are using NTFS as the first partition, make a fat partition after it so u won't encounter any slow winxp bootup.

on my laptop, i have this layout:

/dev/hda1 - ntfs (4GB)
/dev/hda2 - fat (2GB)
/dev/hda3 - /boot
and the remaining for the other linux partitions.

Well... if Windows is already on your computer make sure youve got some free unpartitioned space for Slack to go on to - boot from the Slack cd - during the install use cfdisk to create your partitions - at minimum you'd need a Root and Swap partition - you can create these from the cfdisk table by clicking into the free space at the bottom of the table - its straighforward - after youve created your Root and Swap partitions make sure you write the new partition table to make the changes stick (likewise if you make mistakes then dont write the partition table) - Install LILO to the MBR.
