where can i get an installer for caslter wolfenstien and ut 2003?

Thetargos 03-11-2004 03:40 AM

Castle Wolfenstein, just get the patch from idsoftware, UT2003 is on the third CD (root)

BTW you may need to first extract the paks with wine or in Windows and then copy them once you install the patch.

Quick google.com search will give you:

wolfenstein: http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=132
UT2003: http://howto.linuxkungfu.org/ut2003/

Google is your no 1 friend online , use it ;)

Follow this link for a list of games and just do a search for the commercial titles,... then follow the links they provide to get the linux binaries (if they are available, some Linux ports require you to purchase the Linux version).

Mega Man X 03-11-2004 01:04 PM

Here you can get some installers:

http://www.icculus.org/~ravage/

Ravage is good. He uses Mandrake, I think. He participates a bit on their users board.

some games have been ported using winex's libs; one of these is "the sims"; check www.transgaming.com for more info

LavaDevil94 03-11-2004 06:22 PM

i wonder how you can natively port something using wine or winex...

Thetargos 03-11-2004 06:25 PM

You link against its libraries instead of Windows libraries, so you still need WineX to run the program

I like to play DOOM3. You can get a patch for it from id.

Where'd you find the patch for Tribes 2? Or is there a special Linux version you bought?

there r still copies available: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...236796-7051921

Mind the game can be too difficult to play online for new players cuz last time i checked Tribes2 only had hardcore tribers left playing. Probably steepest learning curve, unless uve played Tribes 1, another fine classic that :)

Yeah the port for Doom 3 runs quite nice on linux :) The only bad thing is that you can't use any of the build in editors through linux :( As a note our Doom 3 Coop Mod at http://lms.d3files.com also does have linux support so it is there if you want to get a few more miles out of Doom 3 :) I definitely wish there were more games though that had native ports as I hate having any excuse to load up windows again, gross.

Also a good place to go for linux games is http://happypenguin.org/ Take care.
