Roblox in linux
 

My daughter wants Roblox on her Linux desktop. Yes I could install a dual boot with 10 but Linux has parental control software installed that actually works and I'd need a crow bar to pry her off the system roadrunner email login with no time limits (before anyone asks parental control software in Windows is in my experience pretty unreliable).

So has anyone had any success in installing Roblox in Linux Mint or any flavour of Linux for that matter? I have tried Virtual Box which did work but proved horribly laggy and did come across a thing called Grapejuice which I have some reservations about as it looks complex and I suspect might crash the system if installed incorrectly.

So if anyone has had any success would love to hear how you did it.

It's being actively developed, so maybe we'll see some tangible improvements with it in the near future.

Dual boot is really the most realistic option for this particular use-case I think. Running Windows 10 in kiosk mode might be suitable for you (as parent and administrator) perhaps?

I have tried to run Roblox in Linux, too. Sadly it is impossible with bugs. But, If you are willing to face the bugs, such as camera movement being restricted and characters not moving properly, you can use something called WINE.

You can also search up, how to use WINE to run Roblox on Linux. Sadly, the Roblox development team is saying that they will not add roblox onto Linux. David Baszuki, the CEO of Roblox, is saying that it would take six months to develop a linux version, which in that time they could develop more advanced features.

I know flatpaks and snaps aren't hugely popular. I had a ton of trouble getting Blizzard games (battle.net) to run with wine by itself via the package manager on Debian & Ubuntu. However with the Bottles flatpak it's worked every single time. I'd dare argue better than it ever ran on Windows for me. Maybe try that with it's gaming configuration?

While it's not a guaranteed fix, some folks have had success with it for Roblox. Just be sure to follow a good Wine installation guide to avoid any hiccups.And exploring Roblox mods could add an extra layer of fun to the gaming experience. Kids really get a kick out of those.
