Questions regarding NVidia Linux drivers

1)I have read at their site that they release also a kernel patch driver..and so how fast do they release this patch when a new kernel comes out ? 2-3 days ?

2)Do their drivers for 6200/6600 cards support OpenGL 2.0 ?
How about OpenGL 1.5 ?

1, When new kernels are released patches (if required) are usually found here within days of a new kernel release. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/foru...?s=&forumid=14

2, Yes, the current nvidia driver supports the TNT2 thru to the 7800 series cards including the 6200/6600 and is OpenGL 2.0 compliant.

1) Yeah, it normally only takes a couple of days before someone releases a path to their kernel interface.

2) Their drivers can support both OpenGL 1.5 and 2.0 but the actual version selected depends on which card you have. Ie if your card is new enough to support 2.0 then you'll get OpenGL 2.0. (and nothing else.. no OpenGl 1.5 for you) Those with older cards get OpenGl 1.5 (and no OpenGL 2.0 for them).

Note: If your card would have been older then GF 2 MX (ie GF 2 and earlier models) then you have had to use their legacy driver.

Open GL 2.0 is upward compatible with 1.5, see the link.
