Problem with SDL (I think?) and AdvanceMAME
Hi folks.
This is a total long shot, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask this here. I'm trying to make a MAME arcade cabinet. I originally started with Ubuntu and sdlmame4ubuntu, but it was quirky and I'm a RedHat guy. So now I've installed CentOS 6 as well as packages for AdvanceMAME and AdvanceMenu, which is a program to launch the games. I installed both RPMs with yum so it picked up the dependencies, and then I also installed sdl-devel afterwards. I'm all set to go, I think, but when I type "advmenu" to launch the program, the screen goes blank for a second, then returns and it says "Unable to set the SDL video mode." I have to admit that I'm stuck. I have no idea where to go from here. Is it an X problem? Is it an SDL problem? I only sort of know what SDL even is. Again, I know this is a long shot, but I've been Googling most of the afternoon and can't find anything helpful for what configuration I need to changed, etc. Thanks in advance. :) Mike |
The first thought that comes to my mind is the xorg video driver? I seem to recall a few years ago, for instance, that when using the VESA driver, I had no support for gl.
But maybe my "subtle" bump can bring viewers into the discussion who have more xp with SDL. |
