Looking for a maze game chase
Hi guys, gals,
Looking for: I'm looking to find a game for fedora 23 onwards that is a maze like game with a chase (say for example, you are the robber, and the cops are trying to get you). Hoping it would be similar to the one I've described below - a game I used to play on earlier versions of fedora. Genres: (alternative answers) If you don't know of something along the lines of what I was hoping for - could you at least tell me what type of game it is? ie I am looking to find out what genre this game would fall into, for a site such as: https://lgdb.org/games What I used to Play on Linux: I used to play a 2 dimensional game that had a brick-built maze, in which you would try to avoid the police and get to the next level. You had to collect coins and once you finished you could climb to the top using a ladder that would appear, once the last coin was collected. You could dig a hole one brick layer deep and fall through it to other parts of the maze (no way to climb up out of it, if you dug and hit immutable bricks), and the brick would reform itself after 10 seconds - and if you were in the hole while it re-formed, you would be sent back to the begining of the level. If a cop fell in the hole while it re-formed, he gets sent back to where he started in the maze and the game would continue. It is a game that used to exist on the early fedora core software - but, now I am not sure where to find it. Questions: Feel free to ask questions, if you think you might be able to help me. |
Hi folks,
If there is a game that is like the old prince of persia in 2 dimensions - for linux - that would be great too. It would look like the first part of this video of "Prince of Persia" here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k32_jaH7CcQ |
The game I described used to look something like this:

The only game I can think of right now that's along those lines is "I Have No Tomatoes." It might be available in Fedora's repositories but if not, you can install if from the website linked to above. :) Regards... |

Hi Xeratul,
The controls of the game I mentioned aren't quite the same as Pac Man. No, I am not a fan of pac man. In pac man, the character you play is in continuous motion until you hit another direction, and it depends heavily on being able to master the ability to move around the maze. In this game, you can travel about without having to master how to move around the maze. The only way to go up in this game is by using a ladder. You end up falling, if you are not standing on a ladder or the bricks. You can also stand still by not pressing any buttons. The cops love following you, in this game and there are strategies you use to avoid them - such as occasionally creating a hole - which cops can fall into and get stuck for 5 seconds, but you can fall through to another portion of the maze - the hole fills in after 7 seconds (or so), and if the cop is stuck in the hole at that time, they get sent back to where they started in the maze. I could be mistaken, though, I'm pretty sure I'm not mistaken about what platform this game was on. It could be a game that was running on windows XP. In this game I first mentioned - the maze is visible completely in 2 dimensions - a feature I like. You also have to find a way to get to some of the coins, which appear to be out of reach of the actual maze - there are ladders all over the place and parts of the maze you cannot travel through. It also involves your creating new paths through bricks - that you can temporarily disolve and therefore open a hole into. It is also not a timed game - there is no time limit on running around the maze. |
Hi 6th_sense...
Whoops, it looks like you're looking for a specific game you can't remember the name of. I thought you were just looking for any maze game that involved chase. My mistake. :) Regards... |
Hi guys,
Possible Solution?: I think I may have solved part of the issue I was facing. It looks like the game I was talking about was lode runner. It seems that it was a dos game. I would get caught up for hours in this game described here: https://www.dailydot.com/parsec/free-dos-games/ Are there any games like that now?: I guess I would love to find another game like this old one. |
Hi guys,
SOLVED I solved the mystery - the name of the linux game is kgoldrunner. Thank you guys for so much help. Explaining it to you helped me a *LOT*. It was the google images that I kept looking for that led to figuring out which game I was talking about. - 6th - |
