Far Cry
Ok, I just bought Far Cry and am running it on Windows 2000. I don't have a linux machine with the kahunas to run a game currently. If anybody wants to send me a 64 bit machine, I'll post my address. :D
Just wondering what everybody thinks of Far Cry. I played the demo from just about every angle and then just had to get dang thing. |
yeah this is the best game i played this year , it really is fun to play and u always feel tense when u play it . wait when u see the monsters then the game will get alot harder
|
ill have to give that game a try (needs something to feed him till DooM3 :D). id like a 'tropical vacation' with an ak47 ;).

DANG IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Far Cry killed my computer!!! I have an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ with 1GB PC2700 and an Asus geforce4 4440 (or whatever it is) with 128MB on an Asus A7V333 Mobo. I got to the big derelict ship and got over to the dingy and shot the chains to get it into the water, then I headed East and that takes you to the place where the demo happens. I was crawling through the brush to get to the fixed machine gun above the cove and POOF the computer shut down. And it won't start back up! I hope it just needs to cool down some more. aaaccckkkkkkk....... |

I hate to see a grown man cry! WWWAAAAAAAAAA....................  Dang dang it!!! I shut the machine down completely, including the little on/off switch on the pwer supply. I opened up the case and put a fan on the whole system for half an hour. I hit the switch on the power supply and the little green light comes on on the motherboard. I hit the front power switch, the case fans twitch, then nothing happens. I think I'm screwed!!!! Will a fried CPU cause this power symptom? Did I mention: dang it, dang dang it!! |
LOL, is the fan on your power supply running??
do you have a fan on the CPU?? is it running?? LOL, stick you hand on the CPU. is it hot?? |
Well, a few likely problems:
1) Your CPU Heatsink was not on correctly and you fried your CPU. 2) For 1 reason or another, your GPU heatsink was on incorrectly and you fried you video card. 3) There may be a loose connection in the system. Some things to try: - Reset the cmos - Try alternative Video cards / CPU's / PSU;s |
I opened a thread in the hardware forum about this.
Please see that forum for the hardware issues. Problem figured out. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...556#post892556 We can go back to just having a Far Cry thread now. ;) :D |
this game rocks!!! my 3.4 loves it!
I'll be settign up a server VERY SOON... -Aaron |
is there a linux version of this game???
|
i dont think there is a linux version, i run xp at home, red hat as a dedicated server...
|
Guys... goto the Loki installers page.... Far Cry installer right there under Wine(X) games. GOGOGO!! :D
|
well, exactly how high do the requirements go? i have a 1.6ghz athlon xp, geforce fx 5700 ultra, and 512mb of ram. is that enough?
|
Looks like your machine is close to mine. The AMD Athlon XP 2000+ is about 1.6GHz. But, once any up-close action starts in mine, everything starts clunking around. Mostly though, it moves relatively smoothly.
I have the settings at 'High'. I'd like to have a new 64bit machine with a Geforce 6. That'd be sweet. Move to 'Very High'. Oh, also, I am running it in 'Easy' mode. I bet 'Realistic' mode is amazing, but probably not run-able on my system. |
whats the difference between the two? realistic has more particles or more ai or something?
ps: define relatively smoothly. if its 30fps, then im fine, but if 10fps is what youre saying, then... *thinks yard sale* :D |
