authing CentOS5 client against CentOS4 via ldap

Hi All,

I'm currently deploying openldap across our server farm. After a LOT of dramas, I finally have servers authenticating etc ok.

With one exception.

There seems to be a filter in place **somewhere** preventing me from using the root account in the ldap directory.

As soon as an account is identified as having a uid of 0, it reverts back to the local shadow setup.

I'm sure its something silly that some wonderful person will be able to point out very quickly.

Thanks in advance

why is that silly? you should always have a local root account, and keeping it central is pretty dangerous. you need to be root for troubleshooting, e.g. your network connection has died...
