mini-mini live distro.

Apart from Slax-Frodo and the necessary X modules, are there any X only (preferably X.org) mini live distro's.

I ask purely because I want a live distro with nothing but an X-Server so I can build the rest how I like. I would just build from the ground up on something like debian, but I want the automatic hardware detection/configuration that the live cd's have, but without their choice of WM, DE and other software.

The ultimate goal will be a small distro for a pen-drive. I don't mind building from debs/rpms or source. While the former is easier, I can manage the latter :).

Cheers

RE: mini-mini live distro.

I suppose you could build a monolithic kernel (or a modular for that matter), add a shell, gcc and libraries, install X, then start customising from the ground up and only put in what you want... Hmmm might be an interesting experiment to see how small you could make a distro!

Look up "floppy linux" in google. There are some distros with a GUI that are around 1.44 to 6 megs a piece. It would be pretty easy to add to those, I just don't know how you would install them though...
