Microsoft Virus Removal... (Virus Live CD)

My microsoft computer recently has gotton infected, so I turn to LINUX and NOT Norton to fix my problem. It had a new virus, and I cannot run any windows program, so I need a linux Live distro that is specialized for removing viruses in Windows and a mounted, local HD. I have heard about a progam called Sophos that can remove this, and for some reason I feel like it can be for linux. Anyway, thanks. Also, this laptop can download new definitions from a wired or wireless network.

Long live linux... I hate microsoft.

And thanks all!

Knoppix will do this. Boot from disk, run "update virus scanner" and point the scanner at your Windows drive.

re: Micros--- Virus Removal

You want to remove Windows? That's easy! :D

Thanks a lot guys! I already have Knoppix on a CD-RW, but it got trashed when I brought it to school and booted to it so I could get full access to the network... ahh... good times... I still have the image, though, so I will burn it to a CD-R.

And as for removing Windows, I plan to do that soon. Windows is too slow, so I can't wait to see what Damn Small Linux and Gentoo can do on that piece of crap!

Then when I get my Sempron 64-bit processor and a new HD, I plan to get 64 bit linux on a dual boot with 98SE on this system.

Nathan1993 - Can we try not to put profanities in your posts please. Microsoft and Windows are perfectly acceptable here - your alternatives aren't.

Thanks

What did he use that was a profanity? other than syaing that MS and Windows was a piece of crap which everyone knows already (Even MS users). and if you are refering to his use of the word 'Damn' in 'Damn Small Linux', DSL is a linux distro (see http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/).

Please dont take any offence to this reply, I honestly mean no disrespect, i was just reading the post and scratched my head and said "wha....Huh????". lol

My post was from 2005 and it was edited, I think, to remove the profanities. No idea what the original post looked like since it was 5 and a bit years ago!

And reviving an ancient thread just to pull me up on making the board more family-friendly is a little silly, n'est ce pas?

sorry
