A good Desktop Linux?
What's a good stable desktop distro? I have tried SuSe but the free Personal version has errors on it so I can't get it to work, and I have tried Mandrake 10 but it won't install on my computer keeps freezing, so tell me whats a good version of linux, for general net browsing, maybe some stuff like Word and all that.
Thanks |
Might want to look into Slackware it is a little harder to install, not much.
ok I'll look into it :) any other suggestions?
Knoppix Live CD or HDD Install is a nice system.
I'll check that out, more suggestions welcome, also anyone know a good place to get screenshots of these linux versions interfaces?
Found ScreenShots of Knoppix and yes it does look VERY nice :), I am trying to find a fast mirror for it now.
Check www.linuxiso.org
Also if you want to install it to HDD when you go into the system hit Ctrl+Alt+F2 then type knoppix-installer. |
oh it won't do it for me, thanks for telling me :-P would have been wondering why it wasn't working after I removed the disk :-p

lol
Just curious how long does it usually take to install? and I am guessing this is a live CD, so I will probably use it as live first just to see if I actually like it.
