Appearance bug in Linux Mint Xfce with separate X screens (Nvidia driver)

Hello!

After installing Nvidia proprietary drivers and configuring two separate X screens (monitor and TV) the Xfce appearance settings starts to behave strange. First sign is that if I change the font hinting, it doesn't change the setting straight away (except the title bar). To update I have to click a different theme on Style tab or reboot (or log out and in again).
The other thing that happens is that the title bar starts to look bad, either straight after setting up separate X screens or after a few reboots (see pictures). To "correct" this, I have to open Appearance settings and click on a different theme and then click the first one again. But it doesn't last to the next reboot.
I have Googled like crazy, but haven't found a solution. If I install the Nvidia drivers but don't use separate X screens, everything works, it's just with separate X screens there is a problem. And I really wan't separate screens! I have also tried reinstalling (probably at least 10 times by now), doing things differently or in a different order. I finally thought I'd nailed it, but then after a few reboots the title bars started to look wrong again.
System is Linux Mint 18 (64-bit) with Xfce.

Wow, over 700 views and no reply. Surely there must be the odd Nvidia user out there who have the same problem..?
Anyway, tried Mint with MATE instead and it behaves pretty much the same. The Window borders are ok, but the Appearance settings behaves the same as in Xfce. I also cannot change background on the second screen. If I right-click on the second screen nothing happens. No menu appears.
I can of course use a single X screen, the "default" way, but then I can't control on which screen programs are started. I also use VLC with just the web interface and to have that working properly I must have a separate X screen for the TV.
I think it's odd that separate screens causes so many issues, since it is the "original" way of doing multi head, if I've understood things right.
