I have not used docker. I have used OpenVG and LXC containers, as well as several kinds of virtualization. I have foound all of the x-windows client applications work as long as I have an open display server accepting the connection. Yes, even if it is running on a headless container. You must set the value of DISPLAY to the (remote) x-windows server display setting, and that service must be reachable from the container directly (no routing hops). I recommend using the IP address rather than the host name.
This assumes they are installed properly and settings for them are adequate. How are you setting your DISPLAY variable? |
