I just took the system admin classes and passed the RHCT exam. The RedHat instructor said that they intentionally have each person taking the exam to sign a non-disclosure agreement to prevent the contents of the exam being disclosed.

where did you take system admin classes and how mch do they cost?

I cant afford the fees for the classes so i was asking any study guide available.

I took the classes in Atlanta, GA. I don't remember what the classes cost as my company paid for me.

I took the RHCT class and exam (a full 5 day training session) in Kansas City, and passed. You WON'T find study guides, because as previously stated everyone who takes the exam must sign a confidentiality statement. The entire course cost around 2300, something like that. My employer paid for it. I had no prior linux experience, but quite a bit of basic computer knowledge in networking and windows environments. I passed without much problem. My professor was awesome, very friendly and extremely knowledgable. The exam consists of two parts. The first is 5 trouble shooting questions. you sit down at a pc which has linux is installed with 5 different problems. You've got to fix it. Fix all 5 problems or you don't go on to the next section. Quite a few people were stumped, but I still don't know why, they seemed like basic problems to me. The next part, if you make it, is just an install and config exercise. You install from a NFS share and config it to their specs. Finish at least 60% of those tasks and you pass the exam. As I said, I had no linux experience, and I was able to get 80% of the exam with no problem.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll do my best to help.

by the way, is it good to do just Linux system administration certification or any particular COmpany's Linux certification.

I've been a RHCE for awhile now but the best way to study is to use linux. Some very good material is on the Red Hat site but hands on is the best way. You will not find much Documentation on the web about the test because everyone signs a non discolsure agreement before taking the test. They figured out what not to do by watching Microsofts Certification dwindle into a joke.
