Just installed Fedora as a dual boot machine with WIn2K. Networking working great until Fedora. I've tried the "remove kudzu from 3 4 5, but i'm still getting the error of:
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Device or resource busy and failded to brung up eth0.
The card is just not initializing and binding an IP address and other info. This card was fine and working all the other version of Red Hat.
I can't get a copy of the message logs into this, however, I did find the section that relates to the eth0. It says a couple of things:
"warning IRQ 0 unlikely to work"
"No known for interrupt pin A of device 00:0a.0 Please try using pci=biosirq
"00:0a.0 3com Cyclone 10Mbps TPO at 0x900. Vers LK1.1.18-ac"
"eth0: Could not reserve IRQ0"
After posting my previous message i searched the forum for similar problems (should have done that sooner) because i found a post which suggested to disable the plug & play OS feature in the bios.
i decided to give it a try and to my surprise RedHat detected both the SiS900 and the realtek. after this i had no problem configuring the network.
First: If you have a P4 with hyperthreading (ht) make sure that the kernel supports this. I suggest you to use a 2.6.x-kernel because ht-support of a 2.4-kernel is poor.
Second: Turn off the plug-and-play option in your BIOS!!!
Thanks a bunch folks. I have been working on this one for a couple days. Disabling Plug and Play OS in the BIOS did the trick! I'm running Slackware 7 BTW. -jnooley
