Xorg Configuration Caught Signal 11 ATI

Okay, so I have installed Gentoo x64 with 2.6.30r2. Everything was going smoothly until it came to the time where I must configure the xorg.conf file. So I run "Xorg -configure" and I get the following...

I know that the ATI driver was installed successfully without any errors. The driver that I am using is 9.6 (from portage). I have fglrx running without any errors. By the way, my card is a 4850, so it is supported by this version. I have searched all over and I can't seem to find a solution. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, can you try without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf ?

Also, can you post this :

Code:

# emerge --info
# rc-update show

Thank you for the prompt reply. I just ran "Xorg -configure" without an xorg.conf and I got the error posted above. Here are the outputs of the commands that you told me to run...

I get this kind of error sometimes when I forget to switch back the opengl libs to ati.

Try this, just in case. If it doesn't work then we can start looking deeper.

Code:

eselect opengl set ati
I have no idea why the ebuild doesn't do it by itself.

Hi, can you post this :

Code:

# qlist -I ati-drivers

Apt Quadruped 07-07-2009 10:01 AM

I made sure opengl was set to ati, but I still get the same error. I ran the command that you specified again, but the error still occurs. By the way, I think the xorg-server ebuild does set it for you. I definitely saw it set opengl to ati at the end of its installation.

Bump, I'm still having the same issue with a new install on the same computer. Any help would be appreciated. The open source drivers just don't cut it with the video.
