automatically mount devices [problem]
 

after like 6 months of watch "IMPORTANT: X config files in '/etc' need updating." i finaly did it, but now my usb devices don't mount automatically.

i look up in google and found this:

but then i realized that i don't have this package installed "gnome-extra/polkit-gnome" and when i tried to emerge it displays this:

If you have "hal" in your USE flags, change it to "-hal", then add "consolekit policykit udev" to your USE flags if they are not already there.

After that, upgrade your system with "emerge -auDvN" world and if everything goes well reboot. Else, ask here again.

Next time, try not to leave important notices about configuration files like that one from etc-update unnatended for such a long time. Missconfigured config files can make very bad thing happen in some corner cases, and they definitely can prevent your system from booting.

A couple of things.

You have a lot of r9999 packages, these definitely are not from the official portage tree so I'd start removing any overlay you have installed with kde packages, unless you are using it for a very good reason. If you can't set up USEs adequately you are probably not prepared to play with experimental stuff like that.

The consolekit and policykit is not installed, according to your output. It's perfectly normal that you can't mount stuff as user.

I'd proceed this way: first, find where all these packages are coming from. As said, these -r9999 packages are not from portage, if you installed the kde overlay or a similar one using layman, uninstall it first, then repeat the "emerge -auDvN world" command and see if it works. If not, post the new output here.
