New here and just saying 'Howdy!'
 

Hello everyone. I just installed Mandrake 8.1 on my new Dell 8200
last night and so far, everything is going smooth. I used partition magic under windows xp and created a ext2 partition and a linux swap space. The install went very well. I feel pretty comfortable saying I had no conflicts. The thing I had the most troulbe with was getting the iso image into a cdrom readable format. :rolleyes: I know absolutley nothing about Linux. Well, I know enough basic commands to manage files and what not using the command line interface. I must say so far it's been very fun. I've managed to stay logged on under Linux since last night and have been able to do everything I'd normally do using XP. :D I'm having trouble playing mpegs but I'm gonna search around for some info. If I come up empty handed or lost, I'll be back with a question. :D
