what is prelink?

Sometimes the computer where I have FC5 installed starts prelink. This does not happen on the Computer where I have Fedora 7 installed . What does it do ? This can be seen with the system monitor or Top.

like all good ideas....not all package maintainers may keep stuff up to date.

check your /var/log/syslog and see if things are hanging because they expect something to be at location x due to prelinking.

not all distros use it...mdv does not.

Thank you ... I hav ebeen wanting to try out Mandriva .. I am not sure what it uses for the boot loader .. If it is Grub I will try it. Booting 3 systems requires a little manual tinkering...

mdv does use grub check out my signature if you like.

grub is very easy to config once you know how it counts.....0 1 2 etc
