synaptics touchpad not found : Wheezy/sid

Hi all,

I installed the latest testing on my Dell E5500. default debian testing kernel 2.6.38.3 (not recompiled yet)

My touchpad is not working when I start X.

When I do a more on /proc/bus/input/devices I only see my keyboard in there.

I also installed xserver-xorg-input-synaptics & gpointing-device-settings.

on the side :
I don't have an Xorg.conf and that's perfectly fine because I'm running testing. But is it normal I don't have the directory : /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d ?
But I do seem to have /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf

Any advice on how to proceed please ?

just recompiled my kernel but still not working. the synaptic should be default in kernal anyway...
when I do cat of /proc/bus/input/driver it's still not showing up. As if my kernel can't find my synaptic touchpad...

sidenote, it's a dualboot, works fine under windows XP... But that's the OS i want to get rid off ;-)

Hi,

I have almost the same problem with Debian on my netbook.
Do you still see the problem if you do :
# rmmod psmouse
# modprobe psmouse

I went without my touchpad for a couple of weeks after some upgrade of debian wheezy. Touchpad still worked in win7. Tried all the tips I could find. Someone suggested upgrade my bios. I am on eeepc 1005P. Everything now works, dunno, can't explain.
