missing library for ubuntu: Just joined the group.

New member, and the procedure suggested a new post. This might be the wrong group, there are so many| Old sourcecode, needs old lib, libffi.so.6, but Ubuntu is at v8 for the lib. What to do? Thanks.

What is it you are trying to do that causes the missing lib message? V8 of what, the Ubuntu operating system? That's 15 years old. Unless you have the installation media that caused V8 to be on a computer to get the lib from, you're better off putting a current OS on the computer in place of V8, then installing whatever is missing a lib. Tell us what computer you have in as much detail as possible. Outside the computer should be useful information. If you can take the cover off, there should be a large stenciled on model number on the main board that may be the best ID. If you're able to fully boot, the computer should have a utility in its main menu somewherre to report this kind of information.
