Downloading Debian

I'm trying to download Debian for my home media server but I'm having touble finding a good SIMPLE copy. When I searched Debian's site I found this download page http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/7.7.0/amd64/bt-dvd/ is there not small simple Debian that doesn't take up 3 DVD or God knows how many CDs. I want a simple debian ISO that can fit on one CD or DVD and I need to be able to install it without installing the GUI package. Thanks.

If you have a solid internet connection, you can use the Net Install version. If you want to try it, it's best to use a wired connection during the install.

I've used it several times and it has worked every time.

Normally, because I am a cautious sort of person, I'd burn a full set of discs, but I never had to insert disk two.

The net install is a very small image and if you have any kind of decent connection it is great.

If you are installing a server with no DE that is really the best way to go. All the default install disks have a lot stuff on them that you will not need at all.

i take it you have not read any of the install guides .
you ONLY!!!! NEED!!!! the first dvd
"debian-update-7.7.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso"
the second and rest are for OFF LINE INSTALLING

debian-cd/7.7.0/amd64/bt-dvd/
and you do know that the torrent files in the Bit torrent folder are torrent files

and you could always use the LIVE CD
https://www.debian.org/CD/live/
"debian-live-7.7.0-amd64-standard.iso" is only 641 Meg

or the net install
https://www.debian.org/distrib/netinst

then just DO NOT install the desktop

that option is in the installer

I ended up using the live CD but I will remember the net install for next time. I've never tried that one before but after hearing from you all I think I might give it a try. John VV I do know the difference between a torrent file and the file it is intended to download. Thanks all.
