There are packages that you can install that will give you results. For MS Word, you can install OpenOffice.org and for a video player, you can choose between Xine and MPlayer. However, I didn't have any luck playing WMV files unlike on other distros. You will probably need to manually install the w32-codecs manually to get WMV support.

In anycase, you will need to have an internet connection and you can install software through myDSL.

thx for the reply about DSL now i can try it but i have few other questions about video codec. most of video file i have is .avi with divx codec so dose DSL have divx codec? i know SuSE has divx but what about DSL?

it's a live cd, you should just try it out to see if it works for you.

It doesnīt have them "out-of-the-box". If you have an internet connection, then you can install them using mydsl to install the media player and then manually install the codecs. Or you can burn the media player .dsl file and the codecs on a CD to install.

It isnīt hard. The codecs are available on MPlayer website: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/

I think it is easier to install the codecs for mplayer, because the instructions on the website talk about it. Itīs just a question of copying some files to a diretory. The only thing being that the directory varies with the media player.
