Is there a way to stop it losting its settings each time it reboots?

you need to configure a home directory, wether it be on a usb drive, or an extra hard drive you have lying around. Im not exactly sure how to do this, but thought i would give you a shove in the right direction.

You can backup most any file using the backup/restore feature.

edit your filetool.list copy located at your backup location to list your chosen files.
for ex: copy your filetool.list file to your hda2 partition. A generic copy is provided in your /home/damnsmall directory.
add the line "/home/damnsmall/.phoenix" in your new filetool.list file.

Run " select backup/restore from partition, under 'system' in your menu, and enter the correct location.
for ex: hda2

Run "backup" from the menu.

then , when you bootup, press F2 for options, type "dsl restore='what partition you backed-up to' "
for ex: dsl restore=hda2

This would restore/overwrite the /home/damnsmall/.phoenix file.
Run Firefox, and all your bookmarks, cache, passwords, etc. are back.

You can do the same with your files containing your iptables, hosts, etc.

I would need it to keep the network card config, and start a few programs on bootup also.

Any ideas?

Thanks for help so far...

Adrian.
