I'm unable to get irssi working. Help.

I ran
tce-load -wi irssi.tcz
and that was successful. But when I try to execute irrsi i get the following output:
irssi: error while loading shared libraries: libperl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I think I have to re-install perl5 but how would I do that?

I am only using the CLI version of Tiny Core.

Any help is much appreciated!

Since you are running your os in CLI only you will have to use the 'wget' command to download perl in your cmd-line terminal.

Once it's finished downloading to the directory of your choice you would cd to that directory and use the commandline utility to install perl as root.

Look in the Tiny Core Forum and when you have time read about your distribution to get to know how things work.

I've never ran Tiny Core or Damm Small Linux so I'm not sure what cmd-line utility it uses.

I decided to ditch Tiny Core because of compile issues. I followed your instructions with no success. I prefer Slackware over all distros.

I am going back to Slackware and I'm happy again. It feels like home. I was finally able to get Slackware installed on this IBM 380XD with a 6gb hdd!! Irssi is also working great.

For those of you who own a similar machine circa 1998. Make sure you boot the huge.s kernel in the beginning and all you have to do is add the boot flag to /dev/sda1. Dont worry about creating a swap partition because you have limited space anyway.

So, at the step where you use fdisk make sure to type 'a' and select the first sda1 partition. That will create the boot flag which is very important! You usually don't have to with newer machines though.
