Booting a CL10 DVD problem

Hi everybody

Seems this version 10 realy wamps

I got all cds wit rpms 123 and srpms 123 also with extra and updates
seems that all fit on a single dvd.
By editing base hash and release files i'm able to have a
complete dvd, that even updates the instalation.

But it does NOT BOOT!

Even if just burn a DVD with the CD1 it will not work!!
It starts in normal mode, i select any guy,
then after it loads the BusLogic driver it says:

it's not necessary to execute pivot_root!
sending termination signals...
sending termination signals...
done
et....

and reboots

is there any way to fix the boot image?

Thanx in advance :D

I have the same problem

Adding some information:

- I've burned a bootable cd with boot.img and cd1 content: CD1.
- I've written a floppy disk with floppy.img: FLOPPY.
- I put CD1 in and reseted the computer.
- The installation process began.
- When the computer asked for a root disk, I put FLOPPY in and pressed ENTER.

That's when the computed rebooted itself and the installation did not restart.

I agree with Daniel,

I could not get Conectiva 10 to boot from the CD but I blamed it on the hardware since I could not bet Mandrake 10 to boot from the CD either.

As Daniel suggests, I would also suggest that you put the boot.img & floppy.img as the first files on the DVD Then place the CD1, 2 & 3 after.

I found provisory solution

I gave up creating a boot myself and got the images of the bootable CDs directly from a Conectiva's mirror page. You must have BitTorrent to download them. The adress of the page where I got them from is https://moin.conectiva.com.br/mirrors.

I do not like bit torret

How did go for you?

Works Almost Perfectly

This Conectiva's bootable CD is very good and the installation process works fine for a dummy. The only "but" is that the start up must be manualy configured. If you want a hiding cover mask with a conectiva logo on the startup (which can be turned off by pressing ESC), you will need to do the following steps:

- Login as Root
- Go to /boot/grub
- Read the boot commands with VIM
- Press "ESC + I" to edit
- Write "splash=silent" at the end of the first command line of each Conectiva's boot
- Press "ESC + : + W + Q + ENTER" to save(write) text and quit VIM
- Type reboot

This will do!
